THE DOMAIN

Travel to Terrebrune
Drink Provence... Smell the scrubland, the maquis, the olive, the palette of black fruits, the truffle and the licorice, carried away by a unique saline finish, that's all the magic of the aromas of Terrebrune. Owned by Reynald Delille, son of the founder of the Domaine, and Jean d'Arthuys, media man and entrepreneur passionate about wine, the Domaine is considered today as one of the largest in the South of France. He tirelessly pursues his quest for excellence. With 35 hectares of vines planted on terraces facing the Mediterranean Sea and in organic farming, Domaine de Terrebrune produces wines whose identity and character are forged by this magical Triassic terroir and the king grape variety of Bandol, Mourvèdre.
An exceptional terroir and a king grape variety
Terrebrune's strong personality comes from the successful alchemy of several elements. A very strict AOC Bandol which pushes towards the best, an exceptional terroir, the Triassic massif, an outcrop area of the seabed from 220 million years ago which is characterized on the surface by limestone pebbles in brown clay which inspired the name of the Domaine; and a subsoil made of these famous cracked limestone rocks into which the vines dive to assimilate their mineral trace elements. And of course, a unique and singular grape variety, Mourvèdre, which produces great wines capable of evolving and transforming over time and which finds its legendary conditions here looking at the sea: the ancients say in fact that Mourvèdre must see the sea to blossom perfectly! Added to these fundamentals is an exceptional geographical location with a microclimate regulated by the maritime influence and the prevailing winds including the Mistral, which cause significant temperature differences at night, bring this great freshness and protect the Domaine from global warming. .
An organic philosophy from the beginning
Since the creation of the Domaine in the 1960s, the choice to live in an ecosystem respectful of fauna and flora has naturally emerged as a philosophy. This can also be seen with the naked eye: hedges, trees, grasses, flowers, worms, bees, birds, everything grows naturally and biodiversity is perfectly respected. Vineyard management draws on ancestral knowledge, the principles of organic farming and biodynamics so that the species coexist peacefully, each fully playing its role to allow the vines to produce their best. No weedkiller but plowing by plows pulled by draft horses and digging by human hands, without any systemic product or synthetic chemical product. Domaine de Terrebrune produces three colors of wine and asserts over time its identity and deep originality: finesse, complexity and elegance. The mineral structure resulting from these soils is a real backbone of the wines, and allows all their subtle flavors to be exhaled. And the constant freshness, imbued with salinity, harmonizes with the fruit to offer wines with immediate pleasure as well as wines with incredible aging potential. Each year, the Domaine opens its doors to thousands of visitors who come to discover an exceptional site, learn about the magic of the Triassic and Mourvèdre, and take the time for lunch at the Table de Terrebrune to appreciate the balance and the complexity of the flavors of the wines which subtly match all cuisines and make them ideal allies to accompany the pleasures of the table.
Terrebrune wines
The red wines express the entire breed of Mourvèdre at its right maturity, without heaviness or tannic overwhelm, they express intense fruit and a very personal minerality, with a structure which always remains elegant, carried by a freshness which gives them a lot of tone. . We are in the register of wines of great personalities. Long and salty, with a satin texture, the most surprising thing about Terrebrune wines remains the exceptional longevity of the rosés over time. Explosive nose, intense fruity, held by a beautiful tension when young, these wines take on substance and complexity with age. The white wines take on fat and a beautiful aromatic complexity made of stone fruits and aromatic herbs, honey, while maintaining a beautiful saline and iodized straightness after two years, reaching fullness between five and ten years. The mineral structure of the wines and the constant freshness, imbued with salinity, harmonize with the fruit to offer wines with immediate pleasure as well as wines with incredible aging potential.

Cultivation, Harvest, Vinification and Aging

At the estate, the vineyard is cultivated organically in order to preserve the organic life of the soil and promote its natural grass cover.

Everything is done to respect the ecology of the vines and the soil. In winter, sheep and goats act as a natural weedkiller by grazing between the vines. The treatments are environmentally friendly: no insecticides or synthetic products.

Yields are controlled by delicate fruiting in spring and a very selective harvest, for a yield of 35 to 40hl/ha: “one vine = one bottle”.

For the harvest, the harvest is done by hand and the grapes are transported in boxes to guarantee the quality and potential of each vintage.

Aging takes place gently in 40 to 60 hl oak barrels for 18 months, to give the wine time to find its natural stabilization and clarification. The wine is then bottled and begins maturing for more than a year in dark, cool and humid galleries until they are marketed for the best guarantee of balance and longevity.
